2017 Free-Floating Bike Share Pilot Evaluation Report

This evaluation report conducted by the Seattle Department of Transportation is one of the most comprehensive and thorough reports of a new mobility pilot program. The report features an in-depth analysis of ridership data, community and user surveys, and the equitable-access requirements.

Key findings

Seattle was the first city to have a privately-operated free-floating bike share program.

During the pilot period, an average of 2,791 trips were taken per day. Compared to the ridership of docked bicycle program in Seattle the same period the year before, the dockless bikeshare programs averaged ten times more trips per day.
