It is no surprise that the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in millions of people resorting to online shopping instead of walking into stores. In fact, 3rd Quarter e-commerce sales were almost 37% higher in 2020 compared to 2019. All of that online ordering, along with food and grocery deliveries and business-to-business deliveries, is increasing the demand for space at the curb. Cities across the country are taking charge and using data, as well as pricing, to manage deliveries. This webinar focuses on the efforts of the City of Boston to manage intense demand while addressing issues of equity and navigating a complex political environment. A much smaller town, Aspen, CO, has had significant success using technology and data to manage deliveries and ensuring that out-of-town visitors have the parking they need to support local businesses. Representatives from these two cities, as well as from Coord, a curb management technology company, will describe the successes and challenges they’ve experienced while trying to manage demand for the curb.
