Communities sharing jurisdictions can have different mobility experiences, purposefully divided by policies along race and socioeconomic demographics. As emerging mobility improves connectivity, creating pathways into previously underinvested communities, private investments elevate concerns of gentrification. Tamika Butler, Naomi Doerner, and Laura Stuchinsky will share their experiences proactively creating a planning process that ensures emerging mobility and its impacts are guided by the lived experiences of Black, Indigenous and people of color and other marginalized residents to benefit, not harm these communities. They will speak to their work together in San Jose developing the San Jose Emerging Mobility Action Plan.
