HANDSHAKE: Roadblocks and successes as three agencies took a Mobility-as-a-Service project from back-of-the-napkin to first-phase production in a pandemic
In 2019, three local entities (Lane Transit District, City of Eugene, and University of Oregon) discussed a back-of-the-napkin idea to create a Mobility Wallet/Trip Planner that would combine our regional transportation options into one mobile application. The goals of this project were to incentivize mode-shift, create more equitable transportation options, move toward climate goals, and avoid creation of new parking structures to accommodate increased development. The project team will discuss the successes and challenges of regional collaboration, public-private partnerships, acquisition of project grants, and maintaining a thriving and dedicated project team through the pandemic.
